Thanks everyone for all the positive support. It's nice to have some cheerleaders when your arms deep in questions and grease. I'm lucky my ole lady is supportive. I'm posting some questions about wheels and the headlight in the appropriate sections.
Hopefully I can get into the shop tomorrow and get some updates.
Ok, here's a little bit of an update on the bike.
I got some satin black wheels made up by Richard of detroitwheelz..
This guy is great to deal with. He made me a set of wheels, with bearings, rim tape, built, etc for the cost of one wheel. They look great in person.
So now I'm trying to figure out the rubber. I love these Firestone Indian scripts. I've always wanted them but I just hear too many stories about handling issues. I'm a sucker for the art of a motorcycle.
I also like these Dunlop Qualifiers. They're out of production but you can find them. Again, it's more looks than anything. If I don't go for looks then it will prob be 880's.
Also got this points cover from Chopper Dave's castings.
It was all Aluminum and I painted it black, then rubbed back the highs.
Looks great.
Mechanically, the bike has some leaks at both cylinders. These pictures make it look worse then in person but they're in need of a fix.
I've never done gaskets and stuff but I'm thinking if I'm patient and meticulous (and with the manual) I should be ok to handle this. I'm open to any tips.
I have thought about it. Not sure right now. I'm going to rock the wide glide for a bit.
I saw this bike on the web and have it stuck in my head at the moment.
Those tires you are considering are off the hook cool!!!! Your bike is rough and industrial to begin with an I love the direction you are going. Keep the pics comin!!!
