Finally changing out my stock bar for LA Choppers 14's. Stripped off the seat an tank and all was going along pretty nicely. I also decided to add chrome switches to the set up. While taking apart the Deutsch Connector i noticed that the pin for the new chrome buttons aren't the same as the ones that Im taking apart. The stock pins in the handlebar side of the connector are female. The new pins in the New Switch kit, are Male. This can't be right!
I'm holding the stock handlebar side of the Deutsch connector that has the female pins in it. The way it came from the factory.
To the Left, are the New pins that came with the chrome switch kit.
****! On hold till I figure this out. Any body else run in to this? Anyone know where to get the proper female pins? Harley? Auto parts store?
Being in the electronic buissness I would say if you can't get them trough Harley. Or a vendor that does these connectors specifically for these bikes. You will have to have a deutsch dealer identify the correct pins and order then for you.
I doubt any auto store will have them or have the knowledge to identity them. There are thousands of different pins and connectors.
Hopefully some place that does these specific ones for Harley will be able to help you quickly.
I swapped my bars as well - I am convinced that the connectors that go into the housing have to be female so they must have sent you wrong ones I hate when little things like that put bigger projects on hold. Your HD dealer should keep those in stock though!
You could always solder them, kinda a pain but would probably be less time consuming then locating the correct connectors and waiting for them to ship.

Yep, gonna check the local Stealer in the morning. Would be convenient if they had the pins.....not so much, If I have to buy the whole connector x 2 .

That thought had occurred to me. I am handy with an Iron. So, that's not a problem. Not in a huge hurry, just yet. I'd like to keep it un-spliced, if possible. I still have to change my cables and brake line...tomorrow.
It turns out, that Harley does stock the Deutsch connector pins. So, I picked up a set for my bar install for $12 bucks. Pretty happy about that, considering the set of new switches that i bought, came with the incorrect ones.
Whats better is that I spotted a Fry's Electronics, on my way over to the dealer. I went in for a look and Low and Behold, I came up with a Philmore crimping tool for only $9.00 Dollars. A pretty decent tool, too!
Moving forward. The bars are complete with controls and Stock Connectors. Ready to Install. Should be done tomorrow!
