Just got word from my mechanic that I need to do some major work. It was recommended that I install a new complete short block instead of just the guts. I have a 2002 fat boy that has been staged up and I'm almost ready to start. Any feedback on my rebuild? Upgrade? Should I buy a short block to handle a 113? gonna need all the other dooooodads, jugs, pistons.. clean up heads. Wow, wasn't ready for this.

So are the cases bad or just the crank? If you adress the bottom end should have no issues with a 113".
Thanks for the feedback. No, I didn't blow it up. Just need new crank and wanted to go bigger with the top end also. There are heavy scratches on the pistons and oil everywhere. Thinking that the block wouldn't handle the top side power of a 113, but, I guess that depends what I drop in it.
I'm seeing that you guys think I should rebuild the one I have with the surrounding and internals modified as desired.
Feeling that this will be the way to go

Do your homework. Crank players: R&R cycles, Darkhorse, RevPerf, Silvermoon and a few others. Mines gunna cost around 1200. Case bore will be around 350. Youle find out the rest.
Thank you for your help. I spoke with a few guys today and found that Rev Perf is the most reasonable deal. They will take my short block and do the repair to crank, do a complete check up and close her back up. If I want to have them do head work, I can purchase the 98 jug and piston kit from them and the will do the work needed on my heads. 2650 total. Not all that bad. All i would need is a complete gasket kit and hopefully my rods and lifters are good... good to go!
Thanks again, any feedback?
