Default Slim tag light help

I am in the process of swapping out my rear fender to a bobber style swing arm fender. I bought a new tag bracket with a run and brake light. Does any one know how to hook up the new tag light. I removed the turn signals - but will probably put some new ones on when I'm done. I have three plugs under the seat - one goes to each turn signal and the other goes to the existing tag light. The two turn signal plugs have a red a black and a white wire - anyone know which wire works which function. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

OK, here's the deal.
I've seen this asked enough I went ahead and took off my seat to get a good picture, so for starters, you owe me a beer.

Here it is.

The center connector, the one with only two black wires, is for your license plate light.
The other two connectors are for your bullet run/brake/turn signals.

For the turns, on the male plug side (which goes to your fender) there are three wires coming out of the connector:
Black = Ground
White -Running light
Red = Brake AND Turn (this circuit will flash if the brakes are applied and the turn signal is on)

If you want a dedicated brake ONLY circuit (one that works with the brakes but does NOT flash when the turns are on), you'll need to pick that circuit up on the FEMALE plug side (going to the harness).

See that red blank plug?
It's an unused space on the Slim since it has no center brake light.
But if you look at the female side of that plug, it has FOUR wires coming into it from the harness, the extra one is adjacent to the blank plug.
This "extra" wire is your dedicated brake circuit...

/ ..if you don't have one, invest $10 at your local auto parts store and get a 12V tester...

That is GREAT Jam. Thanks. As if you haven't done enough, do you have a pic of the female connections?

I would pull my seat up myself, but I have a spring solo seat installed and it is not as lickedy split to take off as a normal seat.

So basically, jam, what you did is tap into the blank in the grey housing, correct?

And that illuminates the dedicated brake light you added, correct?

But does it also allow your brake light to be a run light?

If your new brake light has a running light mode build in, you would just need to tap into that white running light wire.

I added a Custom Dynamics LED brake light under the fender.
It was a simple light bar that only functions as run/brake.
You can see the blue/red/black twisted wire for it in the picture above.

Black is ground.
I had to tap the white on the male side for the running light.
I had to tap the "extra" 4th wire on the female side for the brake light.

The red wire on the male side could NOT be used for this, since it is brake AND turn.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to disable turn signal from lighting when I am braking ?

I've updated my '13 softail slim with sportster rear brake/tail/turn led combo and connected to the 4th unused pin of the #18 and #19 connector as shown above.

thanks for your help
