I just bought the Kuryakyn Turn Signal Mirrors (LED) – Part #1431 from a HD Forums member, thanks. But the installation kit is missing the Load equalizer (3 connectors) I did a search and found several options and a wide price range. Im just removing the stock turn signals and mirrors on my Rocker C and install the new set...do I really need to spend that much on a load equalizer?
Eventually I might replace the back turn signals and headlamp with LED, if I understand correctly I will need one Load Equalizer for the front, one for the back...and maybe ( I need to research) one for the headlamp.
So my question...do I really need to spend that much on a load equalizer? I found some from $10 up to $70+. Thanks.
well there's two things you could do.. 1, just plug the mirrors in and see if they work. if they do, you don't need an LE. though for a 2008, i'm about 97.4% sure you need a load equilizer. in that case, 2, the badlands LE has some good reviews, or since they're Kuryakyns, just get that one..it's listed here for $12.xx
I found the Kuryakyn Part #4837 Load Equalizer Adapter ($12.71) that you suggested, but it looks like this is an ADAPTER, but I will need also the kuryankyn LE ($18.99), correct?
Have you or another member use the UNIVERSAL LED 12V LOAD EQUALIZER FOR TURN SIGNALS ($16.95 for a set of two)
I used the Badlands Turn signal Load Equalizer on my 01 FXDXT Plug and Play $26 from Arlen Ness I'm sure you can find them cheaper covers all turn signals front and rear but you may need a different model
The way I understand things is - older bikes used a bi-metallic strip that heats up and breaks the circuit to flash the turn signals. LEDS didn't draw enough power to flash the signal properly so a load equalizer was needed. The newer bikes have computer controlled flash timing so the load equalizer is not needed anymore.

So what is the breaking point for "older" and "newer" on the model years ? In the near future i'm going to be ordering the panacea light kit, delete the rear turns and go with a single LED for each side of the front signals all this on my 05' fatty. I've been trying to do my homework on the subject of the LE's and the more I read the more confused I become
