It is generally considered a no-no to jump a motorcycle from a car battery due to the difference in capacity I guess but that may just be to avoid having issues with the car alternator output. The concern is the electronics and the voltage regulator. I have no knowledge of a problem from this... I have just heard it said many times.

The only thing I've heard on that is You don't have the car running when you jump from a car battery, The starter is out, it actually wasn't that bad to do, I should know by the end of the week what the problem is with it, a local starter shop has it

A new all ***** starter did the trick, took awhile also replaced the complete cam kit with the Fueling kit with the 543 cams what a big difference with the way it runs

I am having an issue with my starter clutch too, do I have to remove the starter to replace it?

Yes you do and the oil tank. If its a pre 07 you need to remove the outer primary cover also. Once its out its a piece of cake!

I thought this would be the case. Mine is an 07 btw. Strange thing, if I stand the bike upright and sit on the seat, I get hard grinds when starting. If I leave on the jiffy stand, it starts fine! Weird! Any thoughts?

Check all your connections first and maybe replace the starter relay to be safe. Also load test the battery. Gotta be sure before you pull it. Id hate for you to swap the starter clutch and have that not be it . I would get it taken care of because if it grinds the teeth on the ring gear of the clutch you will have more problems.

All the connections are tight, and the battery is new and has been checked for load, so no issue there. I haven't considered the relay, I thought if they went out, they just quit all at once. I surely don't want any additional issues from not taking care of the problem.
