Saturday I walked into the local HD dealership to see if there was a dominant set of pipes on the floor inventory. (btw this place looks like a Roman coliseum--the biggest, fanciest dealership I've ever seen [Wichita]). I was struck by the fact that most of the used bikes had pipes like V&H straight shots. I'd say 80%. Granted the touring bikes and baggers had duals of some kind.
So anyway I'm thinking I got to have the Vance & Hines Big Shots staggered. Then I see a pic of a Fatboy on Monday with that V&H Big Radius 2 into 1 and I am smitten. Wow, a 200mm back tire sure goes with that Big Radius beast.
Ive heard that one pipe sounds better than two, but since I am new to HD, I have to read more threads here to learn. Decisions, Decisions. Love the sound of a Harley.
Plenty of videos on Youtube with people running different pipes and baffles.
Even some with people paying back the times they got wedgies in school by running straight pipes.
Do they still have bike night in Old Town? If so,I would check out bikes there. Youtube is ok,but some video quality makes it hard to tell what it really sounds like.

Yup, videos might give you an idea of tone, but they often miss the mark on volume...
Look at a YouTube of V&H Big Shots, then stand next to one for real.
Night and day...
2 part reply. I have ridden nearly 40 years now and I never liked the look of a 2 into 1 header pipe ..... until I bought this Deluxe I now have. It has the Python 2 into 1 on it and I love how it looks, sounds and performs. I have the 39" cholo's sitting here waiting to go on my bike but I have to be honest, I hope it's not a big step down in either of those 3 departments. This Python has such a deep and rumbling sound and the bike just performs beyond my expectations with it on there. Never did I think I would ever like or choose a 2 into 1 over some other form of straight or slightly baffled pipe. I am 100% sure I am going to like the look of the Cholo's on my bike. I am just waiting to find out how it affects the performance of my bike. I am told with everything I have done to my bike I might see a slight loss on the dyno but that I wouldn't notice much of anything in the seat of my pants going down the road. I also don't race, hot rod or run my bike into the ground either so I am hoping I'm good with the new pipes. If your going to be looking at 2 into 1's, I would strongly recommend checking out the Python before making my final decision. Just food for thought. 2nd, I stayed away from youtube because I wasn't liking the quality of sound I was hearing on my PC and I didn't want to try to make a decision based on something I heard with poor quality. I have yet to see 1 single "vicla" in my area so I am shooting from the hip with everything getting done to my bike. Thats risky and not how I like doing things. So much of what I am going on is from the experienced bikers here who have gone before me with some of the same mod's.

Kind of funny how different parts of the country has different taste for pipes..
Here in Central IND about 75% of the Harley's with 2-2 pipes have V&H's of some kind.
Mostly BSL's, BR's 2-2 and BSS's on softy's and Ovals on touring bikes. Rineharts used to be really popular but they seem to have fallen off the last 4-5 yrs.
As far as 2-1's
In the Six yrs I ridden her I've seen 1 bike that have D&D's on it,, maybe 10 or so with TH'ers.
Almost all the rest again has one of the V&H's, most Pro Pipes, the newer style or older. Very, very few BR 2-1's.
Ber1200c, How soon are you looking to get an exhaust? Cassoday should start up soon.First sunday of the month untill fall. Always 100's if not close to 1000 bikes show up. There is no way you could not find what you linke sound wise there.
If I have to pay for my next exhaust,I will try the Bassani. My Python 2 into 1 and Big Radius were traded to me for detail work. I always go back to the BR,the 2 into 1 is just so quiet to me.

Glad I switched from BSS to Fatcat. Was seing BSS everywhere. I like the sound but everyone has them here and 2-1 TH is the dominate one. Ive only seen 1 other Fatcat and it was in black also.
