Default Fork question

So I took my forks apart to polish the lowers, which of course led to new springs from Progressive. Now waiting for fork boot covers. Anyway, there is a screw hole at the end of the top tree. Besides a mounting point for a windshield bracket, does it serve any other purpose? As a set screw for the top of the fork tube, maybe? The manual doesn't mention it except in the exploded drawing. Thanks, guys.

I know on the FL style front ends the pinch bolt is on the lower-triple tree.. it may be on the top for the FX front ends..not sure though

Thanks, Jim. Pinch bolts are in lower tree. I have a feeling it's nothing, just covering my bases.

Nothing more than a mount point for a windshield or other accessory you wanna mount there. I had the same question at one point!

In my service manual it says that when you put the fork tube back in to make sure that your top bolt that holds the guts in was straight. I figured when you put that screw in it wouldn't let the fork tube itself turn...
