when you get the popup for hdforums posting on your behalf, in the bottom left there is a drop down and you can make it so "only you" see the adds. Then click "yes you can post on my behalf" or whatever. I did that, but i havent even seen any posts on fb from hdforums anyways yet.
Adblock and Adblock Plus. Never have or will do FB.
Pisses me off that almost every site you visit has a link to FB.
They can try to force feed that crap down another's throat.
I never see ads anywhere on any site. I have 2 FB accounts and I never get prompted to let a site post on my behalf. I never add any apps to my FB accounts and keep my privacy settings high.
I am so sick of seeing the stupid Chevy silverado ad that I would not even consider it if I were looking to replace my truck. Plus there is no way they are TRYING to fix it they sold the space for profit and wont stop till they fullfill the contract.
Install firefox, then search for the add in called ad block +, once installed, no more ads, just blank spots on the page. It even removes the links so if you accidentally click one of those spots you don't get taken away to a site you didn't want to go to. I've been using it so long I forgot there were ads on the internet.
THANKS for the adblock and firefox tips. I have an autologon program that keeps all of my stupid passwords and login names for me so that may be what's causing the facebook thing but it didn't used to do that until this forum added the facebook link. I think the authors have ignored standards and that their sloppiness (intentional or otherwise) is what is causing the problem. When the ads make my page shift all the time and when I go to a new page of messages and it takes forever to load, THAT is where the ads get really, really annoying. Fixed pictures would be more than welcome to me and I enjoy finding out about new products and vendors since I have run out of places to spend my money on my Harley... bwahhahhhaaaaaa.
