Default Oil Drain Plug snapped off

Last year, when I changed my oil on my 2006 fatboy, I snapped the old drain plug head off when I tightened it. Since it wasn't leaking I decided to wait until this year to address it.
I tried using an eazyout to take it out. After a long time of drilling the hole, I was only in about a quarter of an inch. I decided to used another drill bit, and right away, I noticed that the drain plug went in about a quarter of an inch. I am not sure if it twisted in, or if I stripped it and it pushed in. I stopped working on it so I could get advise. When I walked past it this morning I noticed a little oil had leaked.

I am not sure what would be my best course of action and thought I would post on here.

If it screwed itself in, maybe it can be unscrewed. Any possibility of getting a dremel in there and scribing a line, essentially making it flathead screwdriver accessible?

in these kind of cases, its a good idea to use Left Handed drill bits to avoid spinning the bolt in further. They sometimes can spin the the broken bolt on there own.

You could still give it a shot. At least you won't be spinning it in further.

It will take some force to drill a bolt. Be careful not to slip and break the bit off in the bolt.....or you're screwd. Keep the bit lubed and try not to let it heat up. The heat could cause the bolt to expand, making it harder to to get out.

Good Luck!

Exactly what spydyr said but then you a punch to turn it little by little it can take a long time but it can be done this way. Or just fill the edge and get a spot to use as a holder for the punch to back it out little by little

Well, when I got home I jacked the bike up really high to take look at it. Turns out I did such a lousy job of drilling the hole for the easy out, that I was able to stick a thin screw driver up there and it turned right out. Whew!!!

Glad it worked out for you. I asked for a pic because I couldn't imagine how the oil drain plug could snap off

You should think of laying off the weight lifting for a while.
