ok, have a 06' standard and want to stretch the frontend by changing the fork tubes. wanna go either 4" or 6" not sure yet. i need to know the stock length and diameter of the stokers so i can figure what i need to order. I know. i can just measure it but i won't have R&R until August and would like to order parts before i get home. that way can take a couple days to swap it out anfd then ride till i come back over here. also. any suggestions on the springs? progressive or not. thought about a 4" over springer but think more on the tube extension.
looking for the over length springs, i have not been able to find any thus far. but i notice a lot of the progressive springs have a that goes in the tube. can a longer spacer be made and installed to compensate for the added length?

disregard.......found out the stock tubes are 24.25" and i found a set for 28.25" new on Ebay with springs, seals, FXST Dampers, and all hardware for $180 including shipping..... I guess my next thing is to figure out the front brake line length for a 4 over front end with 16" apes. that one has me a little stumped.

Ok I would have to say run a 15" over stock assuming that the stock risers were 6"s. The way I think it goes is 16" apes plus risers 1" plus the 4" on the tubes would be 21 over all. But you have to subtract the hight of the original risers. That's just my thoughts. Let me know. Could just put it all together and measure it. I would measure mine but the bike isn't here. Have a good one and good luck.
i had already got a over length brake line when i bought the ape but hadn't planned on doing a stretch till now. the over length line was a kit. I told the what apes i bought and the calculated the length of all cable and hoses and sent them. guess i should have measured it. i may be able to get ahols of them and see if they can recaculate and add in the extra length.
I just did 4" over on my '90 with 18" apes. I left the master cylinder end hooked up and tied string to the caliper end and routed it where I wanted it to lay (clamped to the speedo cable) and measured the string....that's the "over".
You're gonna like it after you get used to the heavier steering in slow situations. Not a big deal.

How much rake did you add. i ordered 3* rakes bearing cups and 6* tree rake to flatten out the bike. thinking that should level it out real good. total of 9* rake minus 2* already in the stock trees so will end up with a 7* difference.
