Default replacing grips

I just bought some new grips for my NightTrain. Any tips on how to change them. First time changing them. Thanks.

Plenty of Youtube vids on this. Not very difficult more of a hassle. If the left one is glued on, give it a good twist to break the glue. If that doesn't work, slide a coat hanger down in it to break the glue. Use a piece of cardboard between the brake handle and the perch so you don't screw up the brake light switch. When you take apart the throttle side keep an eye on the little ferrules that hold the cables in place, drop one and you're gonna look for it for hours. Get a manual if you don't have one.

You will have to pull the ac to get to the cable ends one will have a spring on it (you can pull on either one to disengage the cables) keep track where each goes w/tape. At the handle one or both of the cables has an adjustment under the rubber boot I forgot to mention that makes it easier also.

And as was mentioned watch those little ferrules at the handle end of the cables!

I've never thought about changing mine. I like how they get "tacky" when I'm not wearing gloves. I guess they could be more softer, if anything.

You'll need one or two of these:

The clutch side is easy... Often the glue is already degraded and it will come off as soon as you open the switch housing.

The brake side is touchier, but, the simplest thing to do is park the bike on an old sheet. No matter how careful you are, those little brass bastards will pop off and vanish the moment you look away.

This should take out some the mystery of doing it for first time. Some of the steps may not apply for all installations.

Pretty good vid. I didn't cut my old grip, I just slid a flat tip screwdriver under it. The install was different for my clutch side grip as well. I have rsd grips and they are metal so the its not the same but very easy to understand step by step instructions with color photos came with them. Pretty easy enjoy the new grips man.
