Just got my V&H big radius pipe for my nightrain from j&p cycles and I'm missing a damn heat shield are you kidding me right now. I call j&p and there going to look around the warehouse for it if not there paying to ship it back and send me a new box. But still come on I payed all that money and I don't even have all my parts so not happy
I had a nightmare with them when I ordered my pipes. I used to be all for them but this last experience with them has made me take my business elsewhere.
Hope yours get sorted out quick.
I have had pretty good luck with them in the past, but over the last year or so, it seems like their pricing is out of wack. Dennis Kirk and a bunch of other almost always beats the heck out of them price wise for the same parts...I'm not wasting 1 penny of my Guinness money...LOL.
I had a similar experience with my local dealer - they ordered my the ProPipe HO (it doesn't come wit heat shields) and I didn't want the HO pipe. It's frustrating I know, but take a breath, step back, and in a few days it'll all be cleared up.
I just got my Freedom Performance setup from them yesterday. I called and talked to them once, it sounds like it is a small family run business. Good customer service, nice people, and the shipping was fast. Would recommend them for future purchases... There site appears to be pretty extensive, so Im guessing they drop ship many of their products?
I've been reading some not-so-great reviews about their Big Shots lately, which were exactly the pipes I wanted all along...
Seems people are complaining that you can see ripples in the chrome of the heat shields where the clamps are welded on the inside.
And to make matters worse, they're also saying that V&H is getting aggressive with their customer support - taking a "that's normal and acceptable in the industry" attitiude.
I even called V&H in advance of ordering to express my concerns.
They said the same thing - "that's normal" - because they found that in order to make the clamps hold they had to increase the heat used in their welding process, which "sometimes" resulted in visible ripples in the metal.
The alternative was to use less heat, like they had in the past, and risk the clamps coming loose.
Not much of a choice - either have imperfections in the chrome, or risk them falling off.
I went ahead and ordered them anyway through my dealer, with the understanding that anything less than perfect would not be accepted.
As it turned out I guess I got lucky - they look great...
It shouldn't have to be this way, but this is how things are going these days.
Quality and pride in craftsmanship are long gone.
I have never been a big fan of J&P cycles. They just seem like another "Big business" company where the customer is never right. As for the ripple issue in the V&H pipes? If you just got a set and they are perfect, that show's they are full of chit. It should not be that 1 set is rippled and the next set not. I have also never heard of this problem with Samson. Of all the guys who have gone with the Cholo's, including myself, I have never heard anyone complain about this issue with their pipes. I just bought a set and they are picture perfect.

Well, I've only started hearing of this problem recently, and on several different forums.
And the fact that V&H themselves told me it was an ongoing issue and that they were aware of it, only confirmed it.
