Alright guys, so as the title says I made a bone head move tonight and dropped a bolt on my gas tank so no i have a nice chip.
Does any one have any good tips to fix or protect the chip so water wont attack it and the primer/bare tank? I am not looking to get it re-painted at this time.
This won't help now, but I always throw a towel over my tank and front fender when working on it.
Touch up paint will work but be sure to get the right color. Not all black is YOUR black. 2000 or 3000 grit paper after that and some polish. Anyone would be hard pressed to find the repair if done right. Good luck.
We have all been there my friend! I put a nice scratch in my rear fender not lifting my leg up high enough. A auto body guru buddy of mine fixed it like new. It can be fixed.
Well lets call this a sort of blessing in disguise. After looking over the whole tank i found there are some stone chips on the front lower so it is a good thing i am buying some touch up paint.
Pulled a few bone head moves myself. We recently moved to Charleston SC and I trailered both bikes down from NC. One of the ratchet straps broke on my Rocker-C and the bike fell over on the side rail of the trailer. Scratching the gas tank and the right rear turn signal. I routed the strap against the windshield of my wife's Sportster and it got cut in half. That was my bone head move. Get you some touch up paint until you are ready to get the tank repainted.
