Default Engine Dilemna ?

Here is my Dilemna. Converted my Softail into a Trike. Now I want more GRUNT so am contemplating going to 95" with S&S 570 Gear Drive and Street Port. I see that many Riders are putting 120R engines into their bikes so there are many 96 and 103 engines available. My trike is a 2003. Can I put a later year lets say 2010-2013 B motor in the trike? All Valued Opinions will be Greatly Appreciated!

Thanks in Advance

How many miles are on the trike? A 95" kit cammed with a 2n1 and tune is much different then a stage 1 88". An 88" can run with a 96" so youre not gaining anything unless you cam and tune the 96". The big question is, how much do you want to spend?

Gotta go to another thread now. Something about a boob job. lol

Thanks for responding to my question! Trike has 4,200 Miles on it. I just need to know if a 2010-2012 B Motor will fit into the Trike Frame and bolt up to the Tranny? My intention is to cam and probably some Headwork on either the 96 or 103. I will sell the 88" engine to offset the switch. I have a 96 and 103 with with Wood Cam and Bearing Upgrades for around 2K with around 9k miles. Just looking for options. Probably will end up Boring my jugs,KB Pistons,S&S 570 or even 510,Street Port and maybe a little shave on Heads on the 88". So many options,so little knowledge!

I'd say stay with your original block and do the 98" big bore with appropiate cams and head work. That way your serial numbers match and no hassel if you get stopped. NO case boring so engine remains in bike and can be done in a weekend if crank runout is withing tolerance.

The cammed 103 for $2k is a great deal. Other things to consider are pipes, the o2 senors, harnesses, wiring, a new ecm, tune... it is much more the just swapping in the 103". If you go this route, find a 6 speed gear box and you basically of a 2013 bike. lol One thing I would also consider is adding dual disks up front. imo softail brakes are border line adequate when riding 2up. But, all my riding is in hills, mountains and twisties. I sent you a pm with more info. Good luck!

YES! You can install a later B motor in your bike. They are the same exact engine. In fact, they are all basically 88's if you follow my logic here. All twinkies start life as one set of cases. A 95 inch is a bored 88. A 96 is a stroked 88. A 103 is a bored and stroked 88. A 110 is a bored, stroked and cases bored 88. So yes, a later 96 or 103 will bolt right in your frame.
