Default First Harley - Looking for your thoughts

Hello all,

I sold my sport bike last year and have been wanting a Harley.

Found this 2004 FXSTI with 10.5K, guy is asking $9,500 as the third owner. I would be number 4.

Went to look at it today and it looks very nice. Clean all the way around. At some point in its life it has been: lowered approx 2", Vance & Hines pipes, conical air cleaner and Chrome forward controls. Rear tire looks good, but the front does need replacing. Owner let me take it down the street and everything feels good.

Here are some pictures. What are y'alls thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Forum from Colorado!
Looks like mine when I bought it. A little high on the price, but with the low miles, I understand why it is so.

PRice is a bit high i think you can do better. 3 PO is kind of high. Hard to determine how each took care of it. And it was only ridden a little over 1,000 a year.
I say pass and keep looking.

Too many new Harley owners only think about Price, miles and Yr of what they buy...

How about saying what, how and when in what U want Ur bike to do....

Bar Hopping only, Long Trips, Two up, 1k miles a Yr or 15k a Yr.. all this makes a big difference on what I'd suggest to a any new buyer..

Too many new///used bike buyers, buy and then after a short while wist they'd bought something esle... and end up trading shortly after the first buy...

..

Thanks to all for the replies.

I was figuring the price was a little high too. I guess the guy is just trying to see what he can get.

I figure I can get the price down a little seeing as how it does need a new front tire and it has more than a few owners.

If I could get him down to $8500 - $8750 would that be more in line with what y'all would consider reasonable?

If this is your first Harley, do not rush. Each bike has its own characteristics. Take your time and look at many different bikes. You'll start to develop a "feel" for what you want . Don't get hung up on a particular bike. IMHO I would walk away from the '04 there is nothing particular great about the deal. You can do better with patience
