Have a 05 heritage classic. I was tinkering and noticed one of the rear shock bolt washers on the rear bolt closest to the swing arm rotating behind the bolt. Normal? Or loose? I tried tightening it but it won't budge. Thoughts? Thank guys!
shouldnt be like that ,
ever had the bolt changed or shocks worked on ?
is the bolt the correct length and is it the stock one ??
maybe it wont tighten anymore because its not the right bolt ? or has thread lock and you cant tighten it ?
all i can think of if its not the right bolt - just add another washer to the one thats there already to take up the slack
Seems to depend on which day this question is asked. A while back an answer was given that there is a slight bit of play. In my own case, when I switched out my shocks for a Shotgun, there was a slight bit of play, both with stock bolts and with OEM replacement parts. I would think it is necessary for the swingarm yo function properly. Really like to know, from a pro, if I'm wrong here.......

Same here. I had a bit of play on the stock ones and also after I put the Shotgun on. I think it's normal, but I am no expert...
Exactly what I was thinking QC. If those bolts were tightened down the swingarm couldn't pivot and it would in effect act like a rigid. There's a reason why anti-seize is called for here.
Don't mean to high jack the thread. I have a 99 fatboy all Original mine are loose to. I would get a rattle I could hear at time so I Stretched and O-ring over the washer just take up the gap.
Now my ? How hard is it to change out the rear shocks any tools u need that not in a normal tool box ?
Thanks
