The price is a bit high i think but given the add ons??? Without seeing it...If it was me i would like to pick my own....My wife knows if she bought me a brand new 2013 Ultra limited black i would be happy... With that said she wouldn't do it.
+1 on what Jim said..
But for that bike.
1 - 'lowered' means lowering bolts, will be a harsh ride.
2- 2002 means in a couple of years he will put in some money (around 1K) to upgrade the cam chain tensioners.
3 - Custom Paint is VERY VERY VERY VERY bad news for used bikes, most people want to remove the paint when they buy the bike and that is another 1.5K in expenses and having new paint, unless the very odd case your husband loves the Custom paint.
All other upgrades are worthless and not something 'hip'.. the hip stuff is
21" front wheel.
Air suspension
MetalFlake paints
Long fishtail exhaust or Long shots (two into one as listed is not very popular for fat boys).
Beach Bars, Ape hangers (this also depends on your husband size).
As a side story, I knew my wife wanted a BMW 300 series, I looked and looked and found the car, but before I buy it, I took her to the shop and showed her other cars while the Bmer stood there, I made the passing comment "here is the shitty German car you like ", she said "I love it.. " .. so I opened the door and gave her the keys for the test ride, and we signed the paper work that day.
I had planned to do everything and just put the car in the driveway, but to be honest, last minute I figured maybe she won't like the color, maybe .. maybe .. maybe.. so a compromise between surprise and satisfying your spouse is sometimes best.
Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it and think I'll probably end up doing something along the lines of a card with the cash or somehow getting him to a dealership with the approval already done and let him choose which he'd prefer. It is a lot of cash and while I like to think I know my husband and I know what he likes but I dont want to him like it just because he feels like he has to. Im glad to know that either way, it's a good idea and people agree he'll love the gesture!
I'm sure he will be happy and all of us wish we had a wife like you.
Don't pick the bike for him. Maybe tell him you guys are going shopping or something and take him to the dealer or to look at the one you've found. I think you will be better off that way. I'm a selfish *** hole but id rather have no gift than one I didn't like.
If things don't work out between you guys, ill be here. LOL.
Great gestuer! Years ago my better half did the same thing to me, but I got to pick out the ride. As its hard to pick for someone else for on something like this.
I also agree that just the thought meant alot to me.
