Default Tires!

Since purchasing my 2012 Heritage Softail I have been very disappointed in the Dunlap tires. In short, "I hate them!"

I have had a great experience with Avon Venom's on my sporty. I never felt insecure with riding on those tires as I am with the Dunlap tires on the Heritage.

I contacted Avon and they recommended the Cobra Tires which I have no clue how they compare with the Venom's.

So far I have 8200 on the rear and close to replace.

So I am reaching out to find out what tires people have put on their Heritage and what they think of the tires they have tried. Also sticking with the stock wheel size and not customized.

It would be great to list the MFGR front and rear size, mileage etc.

Thanks,
Mike

Cobra's are a great tire but Michelin Commander II will yield a much higher mileage. the Cobra's are stickier than the Venom's thus don't last as long.

What is the expected mileage out of the Cobra's and Michelin?

I just replaced my tires with Michelin Commander II's. Hopefully they last as long as everyone says they will. Very happy with them in the few short rides I've had though!

Love my Pirelli Night Dragons, they are a hopped up version of the Metzler 880 as Pirelli owns Metzler.

I have thought about putting something different on my 99 Softail Custom but the D402 Dunlops have almost 15,000 miles on them and are still going strong. Kind of hard to switch with that kind of mileage, although I know there are some other brands that would probably handle better.

I have run dunlops and metzlers mainly on my rocker with good luck on both. I recently tried a vee rubber 260/35 - 18 for my rear tire and it rode good but failed half way thru...delaminated...scary...I would not use them again...I'm back to dunlop, half the price of metzlers, good in the rain and I get the same mileage as the metz...plus dunlops keeping some american working making us tires so he can afford to buy a new bike...
