Hey all, new to site though have been watching for a while now. I have an 06 FXSTI I picked up back in Sep 06. Only got to ride about 1000 miles before the NY winter last year.
Anyway I am tearing it down to do quite a few mods prior to the riding weather. I'll have some pics in the next week or so.
Question I am having a debate over is to install a chrome swingarm or leave it black. I know it is more of a personal preference, though I am just curious as to others ideas also. The bike has a custom paint job; Black with Cobalt blue ghost flames.Theengine is nearly all chrome along with the wheels, most of the lower half of the bike is chrome. SO, do I mix it up and leave the swingarm black, or chrome it up?
Let me know your thoughts. I see many bikes that remained black or even the custom paint look, but not too many chrome but a few. Pics to follow soon.
I am a fan of contrast. I think having some black really makes the chrome pop.
My other hestiation on the chrome swingarm is that the bike is designed to look like a hardtail, but still give the comfort of a bike with suspension. So if the entire frame is black, then you chrome the swingarm, it just looks kind of mismatched to me. That's just my opinion.
I was just gonna post this for ya but you beat me to it LOL !! I will keep lookin for pics for ya , hopefully some one around here has pics of what your looking for and posts them up [sm=signs003.gif]
Thanks for the coupleof replies so far. I currently have the chrome swingarm already, though am really thinking of leaving it black now. Still unsure...
How do post some of the pics on here also. I try to post even one pic and it tells me it is to large. Any secrets?
Leave it Black & ship me that swingarm you already have!!! :-)
Just kidding! I like them both, so I probably won't be of any help! I would (if I had the cash) get a chrome swing arm, with my short pipes my bike looks all chromed up front & then a solid rear wheel. I think the swing arm would let it all flow together. Just my 2 cents!
