Default Softail lean limitations?

Ok so I understand the Dynas do simply have a better suspension than the softails, but it also seems like the control set up is a huge limiting factor? I know some guys have ditched the boards for regular forward controls, and Im assuming if I rigged up some mid controls (So they come out over the exhaust pipes) that would make the softail handle better and allow it to be leaned over more to really get into the turns?

The boards do hit early on softies but the lean angle doesn't go much beyond that. Softails typically sit much lower than Dyna's or FL's. It's simple physics, you can't decrease clearance heights without limiting lean unless you narrow the frame and all accessories beyond. The only thing you can do to drastically increase the lean angle would be to lift the bike higher.

I also don't agree with Dyna's having a "Better" suspension. Perhaps in the past, but I ride both and each has its strong and weak points.

I agree, they have "different" suspensions but with current technology, either can be set up to perform well.

I was totally unaware of the fact that Dyna's had a better suspension system than the Softail does, therefore a better riding bike! I learn something new everyday but I'm not sure I believe that statement to be true.

It might be, but on a Dyna you got that unbalanced, rubber-mounted paint shaker between your legs...
While you could argue the Dyna has a better suspension, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a better ride...

I have had Softails with both forward cntrols and floor boards, I actually prefere the boards. It is better to scrape the boards than it is to scrape your boot heels.
