I use AmsOil in all three. Severe gear for the trans, primary for the primary, and 20-50w for the crank.
I think the reason for the different holes is the lifespan of the oil in each. The trans is thick and won't break down as fast as the oil in the crank which is constantly exposed to high engine temps and combustion.
I'm running a 2011 Fatboy Lo and use Amsoil 20-50 in the engine, 80-90 in the tranny and 10-40 in the primary. I've used type F tranny fluid in the primary for years with great results but Amsoil recommended the 10-40 so that's where I'm at. The ATF has so many detergents in it, primary chains and the clutch discs seemed to last forever. I'm going to be breaking in a new engine real soon I hope(if the rest of the parts arrive)and will be going back to dino oil in the engine.
To give you my personal choice, I use synthetic in all 3 holes
Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 in the crank and primary and Mobil 1 75w90 gear lube in the tranny.
things can vary bike to bike. I used 20-50 mobile in all 3... changed out my clutch cables and switched to gear lube 75-90 mobile and id ont like the feel of the shifts... its supposed to be almost the same weight as the 20-50 but im gonna either go back to 20-50 or go something heavier.
i was using spectro in the tranny but discovered i was out AFTER i drained it so i threw amsoil 20 50 in there too just so i could meet the group for a ride.
could be mistaken but i think i was using the spectro that baker recommends for that tranny.
