I broke my tailbone years back too. When I had the Sportster 1200 stock seat I couldn't do more than 20 mins on the bike without tailbone burning and agony getting off the bike for gas etc.

The Heritage seat is really comfortable and I can ride for hours with no problems at all. I'm not suggesting a Heritage seat on a Deluxe though it's a possibility but there are seats that don't hurt your coccyx. My SG seat is also no problem on the tailbone.
Some dealerships let you borrow seats so you could also try some out first.

I agree with Uklauren. I've been riding for 40 years and my new Heritage has one of the best seat I've encountered. I even bought a Mustang for a previous VTX I rode. At $400 it helped but it was nothing to write home about.

I had the same on my 2011 lo. Could only ride 20 minutes then the tailbone pain set in. A combination of Street slammer bars and mustang vintage seat solved the problem 100 %

Default butt burn

I feel for you. Years ago I was running a Dozer on the North Slope of Alaska and while finishing a job and excited about having the summer off I slipped on the track and fell on my butt straddling a grouser. Broke my tail bone and it hurt but I didn't think it was too bad at the time or I would have dinged them for work comp. Well I got home and on the bike and pain was bad but after some miles it kind of went away. Then I got off to fill the tank and thought I was going to crap myself. I just had to stand there and grimace for a few minutes till is subsided enough to walk. I must of went through 4 or 5 seats trying to find something that allowed me to ride and walk the same day. Tried medical type seats but didn't get too much of a fuzzy feeling on handling with the extra cushion squirming around. Just take a seat that used to be good and hollow out where the tailbone hits. Or even get a cheap seat and do the same and when you get it where it doesn't hurt take it to the upholstery shop and have them work around the hole and use good memory foam. Worked for me and trust me it's going to hurt for way to long a time. Slow healing area.

I can do 12 hours with an AirHawk with no problem. All low pressure air cells. Blows up with a couple of puffs on the air tube.

Link doesn't go anywhere.

Sorry. www.dannygray.com

Go to build your seat and see comfort option.

Might want to go to Airhawk first to see what the technology is or actually see one at the Harley dealer. My shop has handled them for a couple of years now.

The airhawk is not for looks so the danny gray might be a way to get comfort and looks.

Look into a air cushion or gel pad for the seat.

Default more info

I told my story above but see where people mentioned Air Hawk an gel pads. Tried them both and didn't work for me. Still put pressure, though somewhat less with the Air Hawk on the tailbone. The Air Hawk is awesome to use on long trips till your but breaks in. The Butt Crack seat does just the opposite-it protrudes up between your cheeks, not the other way.
