I bought my '94 FLSTN new in September of '93. MSRP in the U.S. was $13,249. I remember I traded my '89 Sportster and $10,000 cash for it.
I was lucky (or timed it right). At the time waits of a year or more and premiums of $3-4K over MSRP were common. I ordered the bike on September 1st and rode it home on September 9th. I paid retail and not a penny more. I guess it was meant to be.
That would be about right. Back then the Australian Dollar was about .50cents to the U.S. Dollar. Thats why our prices were high. Even in the last few years when our dollar was worth more than the US Dollar , Harley Dearlerships still were charging $26-32,000 for new model bikes, thats why there was a glut of many guys purchasing late model bikes from your shores and importing them here. My Brother in law purchased a 08 Anniversary Softail , with 5k miles on it from Chicago, for AUS $11,000 , he paid $6,000 in shipping, insurance and compliance fees. Ended up paying $17,000 in total . At that time it was 2010 and the same bike used here was going for $28-29,000. New Softail models were around $32,000, big savings, he stil owns the bike and we ride every summer. We get screwed here with the prices.
Bought my 95 Heritage Softail Special FLSTN, brand new . After 17 yrs of having her, thought i would give the ol girl a bit of a makeover. All i did to her over those years was put on a set of Harley screamin eagles slip on mufflers. After lurking in the background here on these forums , i have taken many ideas from you all, by viewing all the fantastic looking bikes on here, and i thank you all for your inspiration.

Bike before
Bike now.
Great, great mods! Man, what a transformation. I love it!
Nick, I have the same bike like yours....well, before your makeover. When funds are available, I'd like to copy all the changes you made to your bike, if you don't mind.It really looks beautiful.
By the way, did you know that there are only 5000 '95 Nostalgia being made ? The Nostalgia model started in 1993 (black/white) with 1500 being made, 1994 (grey/white) 2500, 1996 (green/charcoal) with 7000 being made. The Nostalgia was replaced in 1997 with the Springer.
I love your bike, I'm planning to order those same pipes for mine. They look great! How are you liking the long fish tails so far? Any issues with keeping the bolts tight, or brackets coming loose? I had a set of L.A. Chopppers pipes on my last ride and they were a hassle, bolts always coming loose, had to retighten after every ride.
