I think it looks great. Only thing I would do is align the angle of the bars with the forks - it judt looks cleaner. However, it's understandable if you could ride with them that way.

Put the bars in line with the forks? Who would do such a thing?!?!?!
Let me tell you about the hell I went through to find a set of risers: spent weeks trying to figure something out but the bike was too new when I bought it and parts were till an unknown.
With apes I prefer a straight riser as opposed to offset so I bought Harley's 12 in. Fat Mini-Ape Handlebar Kit with Riser-56832-04B. The riser height of this kit is the same height as stock, only it is straight and not offset like stock. Soon after the moco released part num 55800252 which are 14" apes I believe. The kit comes with a 2" riser, I think it's the same as the cvo withe the speedo bucket on the riser as opposed to the clamp on the non cvo.
A few notes about 12 in. Fat Mini-Ape Handlebar Kit with Riser-56832-04B - the bars are satin black, and the riser/clamp is gloss black. Makes no sense to me why the finish is different. Also, the riser will not work with the FXSB stock top clamp. The stock clamp has a skirt on it in the front that interferes with the kit's riser because the riser also has a skirt.
Ultimately, the setup reminds me of the older dyna wide glide, only it runs and rides like a softail. Pure joy!
No flames here. I think the bike looks great. And like someone said earlier, it only matters if you like the mod.
I was in a similar situation. I stripped off the signature "Hollywood" handlebars from the Slim and replaced them with apes. Stock bars looked great but were uncomfortable for a tall rider. Like you I did a ton of research. I couldn't find the exact combination of rise/pullback I was looking for and ended up going with the HD Fat Ape Kit (12.25" rise) on 1.5" RSD risers. They're working for me so far....

For comfort and maneuverability I swapped out my slims handlebars. Looked for some buckhorns and other types but ended up with the fat apes. Was nervous that I would not like the looks of them on the slim. But I love the looks and the bike handles much better for me now.
