thanks all for the replies. yes i will be putting in new inner cam bearings. i also will be putting in new orings. im also putting in adjustable push rods and new lifters as well since my bike has over 33000 miles on it. im putting in a 203 cam as well. i know maybe not the best cam out there but i got a good deal on it already installed in the cam plate. so its staying in there. its better than stock cams.
the job doesnt seem too hard i am only worried about the oil pump thing and adjusting the adjustable push rods those are really my only two concerns. everything else seems pretty easy. i will have my dad there to help. he is a pretty good mechanic. i also will have my lap top with the fuel moto video cued up and playing so i can follow it along and probably have the j&p cycles video of them installing the s&s stuff cued up for any other pointers i may need.
I wouldnt make too much out of it, I bought the centering screws and they worked, but I don't see why just using the bolts wouldnt do the same if it were done right. Just don't torque them without alternating and turning the crank.

I have done it both ways, yea think it does not matter. The centering bolts are easer, however call me paronoid now I do both, got to be twice as centered;-)
How many of those oil pump tools do you need just 1? They are 5.75 from heartland. I can order one tomorrow and it will be here by the time I do the job.

The procedure is spelled out pretty well in the service manual. You do have the service manual?
