For all I want to do to mine, it'd be $2500 or less. Pipes, AC, tuner and LED headlight. I already have the R/S/T LED signals and a saddlebag.

I know I have about $3K in mechanical upgrades this past winter. With all the chrome and new seat definitely close to $4K. I still want new wheels, white walls at some point, sound system, etc, etc, etc...**** I think I have some kind of disease.

Adding it all up, I come to about $3.5k in total mods. But I could be less, or more, depending. I'd like to sell a few stock items off, to recover some funds, and bring me back down to 3k -- I hope.

I am not including my pricey leather jacket, helmets, and other gear that goes on me, not on the bike, in this calculation.

I felt a little better seeing the majority of folks spend over $5k. Still, my bike is a 2013 and I'm already over $3k. This, while trying to very hard to spend wisely and hunt down deals.

Eye opening thread. Nothing wrong with spending money on our bikes. But when you sit down and add it up, I'm sure it comes out to substantially more than one realizes.

I selected >$5,000. But then again I have had the same bike for about 9 years and recently went through a redo of the initial upgrades. No plan on selling either. I say I'm getting my money's worth and the ownership-year-to-dollar ratio is pretty reasonable. IMO, if anyone is concerns on spending too much it's a lot better than plunking down $18k on a new bike, another $5k in upgrades in a couple years and then trading in the bike in three or 4 years and starting the process over.

There's not an awful lot that hasnt worked first time, a lot of reading and research on here has helped lessen the mistakes, I've only had it 2 years and got most right the first time.. I thought it was basically done ...and then got the Bagger bug!..... now that was expensive!!!

Bottom line, it appears nearly everybody spent enough on their rides to make a very nice down payment on a second bike... WTF is wrong with us?

My stomach churned when I read the title of this thread! Having been in denial for many years, I started to tally up the costs and went even sicker!

I've done the usual stupid stuff - two sets of pipes in a year, concealed the wiring and then swapped the bars, Ł1k on bags that I now don't use, etc., etc.

BUT I don't regret a single minute of the expenditure on our fabulous hobby! And, there's lots worse things we could all be doing.

My motto is family first, then what's left goes on the bike. I thought I was nearly there, then fat-spoke wheels started eating away at my brain!

Darling - If you read this, it's all lies to make me look big and clever.
