Well, ive had my bike for 18 yrs, and up to about 1 yr ago, my bike was pretty stock. All i had changed over those years were the pipes and added some new smoked indicator lenses.
In the last year after discovering this forum, $6,700. Eeeeek!

Worth every cent!!

Very interesting thread. When someone asks how much you got invested, the non biker will not have a clue. A biker will know for sure, especially if he or she has done any mods to their bikes. When I started out doing my mods from day one on my 06 FatBoy when it came out of the shipping crate from H.D. motor co., I actually started writing down every mod that I've done to my bike. I installed most of them and the rest I wanted no part of it. Since the summer of 05 when it got purchased and until now, I have now well over 10 grand in her and the list is getting longer. Just when you think you are done modifying her, something else comes to mind and before you know it it's being installed on your bike. This forum does not help the modifications either because of all the awesome rides on here. This is where I got most of my ideas from. This forum costs me alot of money, LOL, and I love every minute of it. I want to say I am done for now but sitting next to me while I am writing this message are a couple more chrome parts to install. You are NEVER done...LOL...

That's the truth!

I'm not going to get rid of my Bones, ever. But I have decided what bike I would like next. I'm thinking an Ultra. Keep the softail and rock the bagger for long trips. Sad thing is I've started modding the Ultra in my head and thats a few years, at best, away.

I had read a few years back that the average HD had $3500 in mods. Most active members on this forum ride a lot and mod even more, so I wish I had increased the poll numbers. I really undershot the average haha.

I'll say, I don't mind spending money on the bike. When I look I see where I spent my money, I love to do it, and it's insured.

I've been doing major landscaping to the front of my house, that's expensive too, but not nearly as much fun.

Sorry... but it makes me laugh when I hear people using this word. If you're investing in chrome and paint... you really need a better financial planner.
