Default Chrome issue with slip-ons

I have Rush slip-ons and they work very well. The problem is that the chrome will get very fine scratches simply by looking at them (well almost). The rest of the chrome (HD parts) on the bike is just about prefect. What makes one company's chrome better than another? I have been thinking of bumping up to a full V&H exhaust, but if the chrome is going to suck, I may reconsider given the $$$.

Thanks, Chris.

I had the same thing happen with a set of V&H slipons.
I could scratch those just cleaning them.
The HD chrome is so much better, I actually used #000 steel wool on my stock heat shields once after I picked up a plastic bag that melted on, without scratching it.

Just re-packed my Rush slip-ons today. The chrome is just fine and the quality is holding up very well. Almost 30,000 miles on them. Don't forget. This is where the real heat is.

Mine are scratched also. I am very careful but they seem to be increasing in number. The finish is awfully soft.
