Go to Spacer Jims and get a I inch spacer to raise the handlebars up and back eliminating the clamshell position and providing a more conventional comfortable position without changing anything else! http://www.spacerjim.com/
Did you have to request special ones from him to get bare alum? I only see gloss black in his harley spacers. Did it really make a noticeable difference? I'd like just a little bit more pullback and height on my Breakout bars and didn't want to have to mess with changing bars at this point so this sounds awesome.
I measured the bottom of risers and called Jim. He used some bare aluminum he had to make this prototype. I said I would use and shoot some pictures if it worked. Act of trust on both sides. He is a class act. I am thrilled by them! I am 5'10 and bull-legged. I am in good enough shape for a 62 year old man. I think if you had a gut the breakouts aggressive forward lean might even prevent you from buying the bike! I like the way the forward controls fit but not so much the forward lean of the bars stock.
To answer your question...Yes it makes a huge difference! I think it even makes the drag bars look and feel narrower when raised. It does not affect turn to turn play at all. Here is another picture before I installed bag with raingear and fairing.
He makes them in black for Dynas. This was his first of this size intended for Breakouts. Simple enough to either polish like chrome or chrome. The longer bolts he supplies fit perfectly and are chromed or polished I am not sure but everything is highest grade. get 'em now before the Factory catches ion and charges three times the price!

Awesome, that sounds exactly like what I want. I am also 5'10 and like the forward controls just would like a little closer on the bars. What did they cost if you don't mind me asking? Was it the same $46 for spacers and bolts?
xwino , where is this place located ? I hope he will ship to Canada ... I love the look of the spacers and you say it is more comfortable ... I am 5 '10 as well... I love the position when riding now but that one inch would make a big difference ...
I included a link to his web page in an earlier thread. He charged me $50 and took PayPal which I thought was a good deal. This included the new longer bolts.
The quality and workmanship is top notch!
I told him if it worked to expect more requests!
The quarter fairing is Harley's designed for Dynas or Sportsters. BungKing makes 49mm brackets and I used HD quick detachables (two with locks)
The LEDs are Custom Dynamics and really light up the road and allow you to be seen.
I used a local powder coater to do horn, brakes pedal, etc.
I agree with what someone else said earlier that it is hard to come with mods because it is an awesome bike to begin with. No bike will fit everyone and custom mods ( in my opinion) should be about improving function! Form Follows Function!!
