Really looks nice with the fat tire but I was looking atthe front and I noticed the front wheel set to one side like I have been reading about. Asked the salesman and he couldn't really give me a good answerer so has any one found out there real truth about why they off set the front wheel.
After reading everyting and all the theorys everyone has put foreward. My guess is thatthe engineers didn't like the idea of a caliper being that far off the fork leg axis for loading reasons.
Others think its a balance issue and the tire needs to be over there to balance the offset weight of the primary. Or they got cheap and used spacers to center the caliper over the rotor without having to retool for a different caliper that would mount over farther.
Take your pick, any of them are perfectly valid given there doesn't seem to be any answer coming from the engineering department.
I have an '07 on order. Thefatty is sharp and I only noticed the offset because I was looking for it. From what I have heard in this forum, the bike ridesbeautifully. I'm sure plenty here wouldagree.
I've always wanted a Fatboy and thishasn't swayed me to buy something different. I say go for it.
apparently it's a mythwhy the front wheel is offset but I can tell you that I have had no problem with the handling. I even stupidly took my hands off the handlebars to see what it would do and it held it's track very well.
I LOVE my new Fat Boy! Been back to the dealer at least a dozen times and always look at the inventory. I still like the Fat Boy the best! The new 2007 machines are simply awesome!
You can't go wrong with buying one, but beware...you will soon me afflicted with a terminal condition known as accessory-itis right after you get it home! A terrible condition that leaves a man with that fateful "deer in the headlight look" every time you at the 900+ page HD Parts and Accessory Catalog they give you when you pick up the new beast. Hmmmm...
Dugan is that Metzler tires you have on the bike? Is that the 210 on the back? How does it fit and did you have to make any changes to make it work. I am wanting to go to them when I change next.
