Softtail Photo Game Thread
This is my normal local go-to guy for basic maintenance chores that I can't do like tire changes and inspections.
But he'll work on any bike, not just H-D's.

Now this guy (below)... this is a shop buried behind some old industrial park (with a gravel road) run by this 80-something old timer and all he does is Harleys.
He wasn't yet open at 9:00Am this morning when I rode by but the last time I was here I think the newest bike in the shop was 30+ years old.
This place is like a H-D museum. Grimy floors, junkyard exterior, piles of parts everywhere, and some really OLD bikes - IOW a thing of beauty.
...and of course the obligatory junkyard guard dog...
If you look behind my bike you can see the dog's bowl and a chain attached to that big blue container.
Normally when the place is open the dog is anchored to it but he's such a brute he just drags it around...

I have to go back once he's open and get more pictures as this exterior shot doesn't do the place justice...
Let me know if these are good - and I WILL be going back later today for more pictures.
You guys gotta see this place.

EDIT: I went back for more pictures...

..sorry if a couple of the pics are blurry but it's hard taking pictures with an overly-friendly pit bull trying to hump your leg while you're trying...
Here's a couple of the owner's bike.
He says he built it of "spare parts he had lying around".
It's a '64 panhead in a late model (90's?) softail frame.

Next up, an easy one... a COOL church steeple. Bonus points for a church bell. Huge bonus for Quazimodo. Glasses or hymnal on the seat.
Note: Coolness is subjective. You say it's cool, it's cool...

This church was built in 1968, and the original steeple was a tall, symmetrical spiral all the way up.
Only a few years after it was built, a near-hurricane storm came through the area.
The steeple was toppled and ruined.
So rather than repair and restore it to its previous "aerodynamic-unfriendly" design, they just removed the damaged middle section and pieced together what was left...
It's now about 30' shorter than the original...
I couldn't find any original pictures, but here's a link to an old article that mentions the storm damage, which was in 1975.
It's unique for sure, but is it "cool" enough?

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Thanks a ton!
Actually, THIS is why this thread is so much fun. It's not just "pic this", but there's some neat stuff throughout, too. Some things have neat stories. Some things bring back memories. Some things educate (even if the topic is stupid). Thanks to everyone for going the extra mile!
