They speak lots of languages, most learn English in school, too.
Around here, it's a Swiss dialect of German. No doubt, there are some words from the other commonly spoken languages mixed in, too... enough that when I was trying to learn German, I had a hard time finding help.
Cajuns speak a mixture of English and Canadian French.
Thanks. It's at my favorite state park in Indiana. We finally moved with in about 10 miles of it. It's Spring Mill State park and those are a couple of buildings in the pioneer village they have restored and they have live re-en-actors there daily through the spring, summer, and fall.
Nothing wrong with that.
I like it when guys post their entries even when they're late.
And why not, you went to the trouble - may as well I say...
.. especially when it's a damn good picture.
Not sure if it started with the memorial picture w/theme or not but lets keep the background stories with the challenges, it makes the thread a lot more interesting to follow for everyone. Makes for good reading when I'm stuck at work!

Agreed. I get some of my best reading done in the oval office.
And to all, excellent pics coming in lately. If I wasn't working today I'd have the whole brew pub challenge already completed. Love to talk about my favorite ale, the "Arrogant Bastard".
Found this rather non-descript building which houses the oldest brewery in Oklahoma. After the photo I went in and met the owner, Rick Huebert, who was kind enough to give me a tour of the operation. Has 3200 cases brewing and in various stages of production, packaging, etc. I even got to bring home a sample of his stout!

next challenge: your bike in front of a fountain in a public park or building
Not exactly a brew pub, but checking into the background of the microbrewery, it looks like Rick and his business did a lot for the brewing industry in OK. From the "about" section of the website:
One of the first obstacles faced by Huebert were the laws that dated back to the days of prohibition and had not been updated since. Huebert and Kathleen Wilcoxson, state senator, authored a bill that later became a law eliminating or lowering certain fees and taxes for Oklahoma breweries. This law also allowed breweries to sell to liquor wholesalers and the general public. Once the new law was enacted, it opened the door for not only Huebert to start his brewery, but also other brew-pub businesses.
I'll call it good! Neat experience, meeting the owner, getting a private tour, and to score a Stout to boot - that's a win.
On to the public fountain! (... and don't dump in a cup of dish soap... )
My bad, I missed the 'pub' part when reading the challenge. I will sheepishly accept the win. After it has chilled I will drown my anguish in the 22 oz sample of stout. Forgot to mention Rick offered me a taste directly from one of the vats of a new brew he is introducing. New and neat experience.

Hey, it's all good... your submission was definitely in the SPIRIT (bad pun!) of the challenge. I'd initially thought about putting up microbrewery/brew pub, but wanted to keep it small, as in local only distributorship. This fits that thought, and your story and experience was EXACTLY what I had in mind - the enjoyment of going, not just going.
Now... off to work I go, which, I promise, I will NOT enjoy.
