103 lifter bleed down...
I have a 2012 Heritage that from day one has had bleed down issues with the damn engine. I have documented it more times that a person can imagine. I finally went to the HD service and told the guy I did not want to throw them under the bus but this is an ongoing issue that can't be easily detected unless you ride the motorcycle. It isn't consistent! One day I may be riding and the valve train noise is perfect! The next time the knocking starts to appear like the push rod is being beaten to death. It isn't a normal sound. It happens at slow cruising speed. It is a very distinct sound and can get louder than the exhaust noise.
I was told when they checked the heads everything was within specs. Seriously! How do you check lifter specs? If bleed down is occurring while riding then there is a problem. I know it isn't my imagination.
I opened up a ticket with HD customer service. I told them my concern was the warranty will expire and when the lifters continue failing there will be more damage to the top end. I can't seem to get that point across.
The noise I am speaking about is a distinct knocking sound that comes and goes. I am at my wits end with this issue. I am about ready to tell them to take the bike back and get a new one.
So far this bike has had a failed front master cylinder. Which they argued with me until I finally showed them it bled down. Then taking it back for the replacement the rear caliper collapsed. I have had head and cam cover leaks. And now I have the security light coming on and I have no security system on this bike.
I would like to hear if others have had the same problem.
Thanks for listening to my rant! This is the first time I have hated a HD motorcycle. I should have kept my 98 sportster. It ran a whole lot better than this bike.
No issues here, in 2 touring 103's

I am about ready to tell service I will pay for new lifters and they can cover labor. I know it is lifters but proving it is another thing.
