Sounds, in fact, like it doesn't fit, but if you put enough effort into it, you can make it fit. I have to go with the "parts monkey" on this one, though the final result looks very good.

Oh, isn't this the 'vicla' that going bye-bye?

2016 update: I switch to the correct tank mounting plate and ditched the stereo stuff.

Nice write up, one of those items you put in the back of your head and hope you run across on a salvage parts out sale. Hell, I've pretty much got around getting my list accomplished except for the fright train nacelle. That'll have to wait, now I another item to add thanx to you > *laffs
Your dash looks much better than stock, I like it.

I love this kinda stuff. This is what "hot rodding" was about in the beginning. Taking something and making it fit. Like Cadillac tail lights or a Buick grill on a '50 Merc. "Challenge Accepted!" I'm also the kind of guy who will dive in on something I'm told can't be done. I think that with some research, and not being afraid to mess something up and starting over, along with some skills are all that's necessary.

Great job. Looks factory.
