Installing factory security on a new Fat Boy without factory security
OK so I know you can buy the factory security module $359.95 for a 2012 Fat Boy. Now as far as installation. The module looks like it just plugs in to the receptacle on the bike. But I am sure there is more to it than that.
Does anybody know or has anybody installed the factory security module on their FLSTF and how much extra equipment or labor is required?
It's placement is just forward of the rear fender, under the seat. It must be accessed from the wheel well and must ne programmed by a dealer. I do not believe the bike will start, once it is plugged in, without the re-programming. I had one added to my '08, and it works perfectly.
I bought the HFSM which comes with two button-less fobs, and I bought the small siren, but have yet to install these.
My understanding is that you can Marry the TSSM/HFSM to the bikes ECM and be up and running, but will need to have the dealer marry the two fobs to the HFSM.
I just replaced my TSSM with a TSM. You must sequence (Marry) the module with the ECM. The attachment provided by 1004ron is correct. Ensure that you have a battery charger connected prior to sequencing. Once you have sequenced the two units, you must then program the security module.
That's mine above shocks with flat long white plug..replaces the signal light TSM with the TSSM. That wire hanging lower is the pigtail for the siren and it clips there. It's not necessary to remove the tire.
