Bye Bye Breakout?
First off the BO is intended to be a drag bike meaning 2 up is already a compromise. And going with mini apes on a drag style bike in your pick just shows you like that set up like your old heritage.
Its like if a blonde ex gf you're still in love with left you and you make the new brunette gf dye her hair blonde. Just go back to the heritage and make everyone happy.

I like your setup with the passing lamps, what are you riding?

LOL, I prefer brunettes but I get your point. Except for the drag bar, the breakout has everything I've been wanting over my 10 yr old twin cam 88B - 6 spd, 103, 240 rear and 21" front mags. With my height, apes are the only way to go no matter what model I choose - its going to get done. So i figured, why invest thousands into my 10 yr old ride when I could just invest it into the new one? I figured the frames on the BO and heritage were the same, right? So a passenger would be no problem. Boy was I wrong, so now I'm going to pay for it.
Like the BO as well, good luck!
If I can do you can, Unless you are shorter than me.
Get rid of the wife and own 2 bikes.
Its not easy to find 1 bike that does it all.
As said above I also have rode, RK's, SG's, and an Ultra but not a RG back in 09 and 10. After riding those bikes I found out that overall our Heritage fits all of our riding needs and the comfort is as good on it as any of them for us.
We ride 2up 90% of the time and after I got her the bigger sissy pad, touring seat and floorboards it made the rear seat ride 400% better for her back there. I haven't changed anything for my comfort as the stock setup is great for me.
Being retired, but, still baby-sit our Grand-daughter everyday, We ride every chance we get and it's usually at least 2hrs but sometimes up to 4hrs if we do lunch.
After 6yrs+ and 42k we still love our Heritage.
For the buffering on a touring bike if U get one, try the little deflector that mounts at the bottom of the Triple Tree, Son just installed one last month and said it does a better job cutting down the buffering than just the re-curved shield he put on last yr. But the two mods together really helps.
Sounds like Ur putting in some thought on this one. That helps make the pick easier.
What ever U get, just enjoy it.
