A Harley will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no Harley!
+2 !!
Money is super tight for the Dude here and likely will be for the next 12 months. However it sure helps to know I have "The Beast" in the garage ready for her next ride this spring..............
It's been 4 months or so that I've started this thread and if you've read his thread you know that combined with the fear of unemployment, the 2-up discomfort of riding w/ a passenger had caused me to re-think owning a Breakout. I was undecided on a Heritage or SG before the unemployment thing even hit.
I've been hanging on for dear life about the job, but what's life without a little bit of stress and worry in it right? Come to find out that not only were the rumors of downsizing NOT going to affect my department specifically, but when the boss gave me my review a couple of weeks ago...he tells me he wants to fast track me for taking his position when he takes early retirement in a couple of years. WTF???
Well, having the unemployment monkey off my a$$ (which could all be hot air in this still crazy job market), I think I resolved the 2-up problem, see pics...
I frikkin' stole this bully...dude had a $65K Cobra on order and had to unload his bike. 2013 FLHX Blacked out front end and console, painted inner, bagger apes, 18" Agitator's, PM grips and AC, V&H Dresser Dual Headers w CFR slip-on's, quick release sissy and tour pack. Only really needs a sound system upgrade. I'll now be splitting my time between reading this board and the touring board. Heritage, what Heritage?
Anyway, if I can't sell the BO, the ol' lady says "keep it". If I do, Breakline mods and CVO risers are on the list.
Thanks for all of your input and well wishes. Happy New Year everybody!

You definitely won't be able to sell it if your price is just a little too high. *wink wink*
Congrats on the new ride. Can't wait to see the new mods on your Breakout too.

Thx, the sale price just went up but what she don't know won't hurt her, right? LOL, seriously though someone's going to get a good deal on this, one day...I think spring time I'll get more interest for sure. If not, the mods will happen, but not until mid-year probably.

Right now, not having to deal with ear buds and wires to get music during the ride is more appealing and I really don't see myself using the BO as much as I would the SG, so I'm still trying to unload it. Especially if when I say "going for a ride" I hear "I'm coming too". I don't like the handlebar mounted speaker kit there is no way that's going on the BO. I think the apes are detracting to some ppl, even though it makes the bike so much more comfortable for longer riding. And if I mod the console it might also turn away some potential buyers. Until then, I'll have two...
Looks like that Heritage was a sweet ride.
I personally am not a big fan of the Softail 2 up. That design of shock with the spring under tension just doesn't feel right with the extra weight, even if you preload it up to maximum, and the step up to the passenger seat just make matters worse, with the weight being carried high up over the back wheel.
But then I don't like the shake at tickover of the non balanced engine.
You could just keep the BO and stick an air system on it like the shotgun. I'm sure that will improve handling and comfort.
