Default Bike Build Date

Using the VIN Number, how does one tell when his bike was built?
I'm trying to find out which injectors I have installed.
I found the VIN section in my Owner's Manual but, [sm=dontgetit.gif]

Thanks,

I don't think you can tell the date by the VIN, just the model year, sequence number, and a few other things. However, there should be a manufacture date on the front right frame upright. Hope this helps.

The build date is under the nose of the seat on my '04 FB. The model year is the 10th figure of the VIN number.

Please fill me in on the injector problem, I have 103 c.v.o fat boy, bought feb. 06, do I need new injector's? bike run's well decent dyno number's, only 1800 mile's and start's right up, do not notice problem, but would like to know is my bike part of some sort of recall for injector's? Thank's for any help you could give me.

Thanks Djohnson,
I found it right where you said it was.
Now I have to figure out which injectors I have. And if they are the 8's, do I really care if the bike runs good?

Glad to help. If there is a recall and HD is going to fix/replace free of charge, I would do it. It may run fine now, but I am sure they all did when they rolled off the assembly line.

Tom,

There is NO RECALL, just a "Service Bulletin"http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/hhlair1/M1185.pdf
explaining that some of the 06 bikes might have a problem with hesitation, and or stuttering or starting.Any 06 built after Feb06 will most likely have the 25 degree injectors installed. Bikes built prior to that will have the 8 degree injectors installed. Now my bike runs fine with the 8 degree injectors, but I stopped at my dealer today, just to "Chat" about it. I'm running a PCIII with Dyno and just tweaked my map so NO MORE DECEL Popping. My bike has never had a surge or start, or hesitation problem. So if it ain't broke......But when I talked to the Manager of my dealer today who I have a great relationship, he said if it starts to act up, bring it back in, we'll put the 25's in for ya. Just uhook the PCIII first.
It's very possible, even probable that the machine shop that made the injectors turned out a few bad ones, i.e. bad batch, same part # etc. So I'm gonna ride it like I stole it...
Hope this has helped..
Ride Safe..

I found this in general discussion.

From the left side of the bike using a flashlight you can read the part number on the rear fuel injector. 8 degree = 27625-06
25 degree = 27709-06A.
