I've never heard of heritage bags having snap closures (if I'm understanding you correctly, these are in addition to the buckles), only the quick release buckles. Sounds to me like the dealer replaced the left side with knock-offs or used bags...

Wait, you said that the left side replacement bag had snaps, like the originals. Is this correct? Your original bags had these snaps?

They should all have a brace bar fitted from the bottom of the bag to the frame, which a lot don't bother with.
If I caused any confusion I'm sorry, but when I talk about snap buckles, I mean quick release. In the UK, we sometimes refer to them as snap, as they snap together, but I guess they are quick release

I have owned a 2006, 2011 and now 2013 Heritage Softail. None of my bags came as you discribed for the L/H bag. I installed the HD Heritage Flat Top & Lock Kit P/N 88373-10A. The kit comes with plastice reinforce for the lids and a metal ring for the bag opening. Sounds like your left bag has part of this kit or part of "Got Saggy Bags Kit".

I have a 2000 Heritage, the bags have the snaps and the quick release clips, the bags did not have a stiffener kit until I added one.......
