I do my own tire changes so this would not be an issue for me. Easy job, why pay someone.

Stuff happens, tube could have been damaged before installation unless original poster can confirm removal from package, inspection and confirmation that tube was delivered intact.
Mechanics do not make much money on a tire installation and it is possible that the old tube was retained and that you were ripped $20 (not right but it happens).
I would not change mechanics but i now know to mark the nipple so i can confirm replacement on my bike and help others remain honest. Trust but confirm.

Cool Conclusions...conclusions...

Once gain, people are jumping to conclusions, making assumptions, and coming to a deliberate outcome, without knowing all the facts. Why couldn't the tube have been pinched when it was delivered? Yes, there is that possibility, huh? The indy even offered him twenty dollars back. He didn't have to do that. Give him the benefit of the doubt. You would want the same too, wouldn't you? Why bad mouth him unless you are all 100% positive he is a scum bag? Just saying....

I get a voice mail call telling me that the tube i brought over was defective and my bike wouldn't be ready today. I went by his shop to see the defective tube but he wasn't there but had gone off with his Pastor or someone from his Church (i forget which). I ask to see the tube and he said he had it with him (strange?). I called Motorcycle Super Store and told them the tube was defective, no problem we will send you a return label and return authorization #. Next day i go to get the bike and pick up the tube. I didn't look at while there but looked when i got home and it was clearly PINCHED, not defective. I called and told him that the tube appeared to be pinched to me and that i called MSS and they would credit my account. He said if they wouldn't that he would refund me my $20.00. One friend that was a wrench for 12 years saw it and said it was pinched and if i paid him for a new one, he probably put back in the tube that was in there. I am having a tough time believing that someone that i thought was a straight up guy would do that. If MSS does credit my account I WILL NEVER USE HIM AGAIN, he has lost my confidence. If they don't credit my account i will ask for my $$$$. Troubled here in Metro Atlanta. What would you do/have done?
I would have bought the tube from the shop installing my internet tire. Then no finger pointing the day of the repair or in the future and your 200 miles from his shop and the tire goes flat. It was his labor and his tube. What's there to argue or dispute?

Was the tube leaking at the area where the pinch was?????

Instead of condemning the guy on a public forum before you have all the facts, go talk to the guy and find out what happened.

The Oxbow incident over an inner tube...

In defence of the op he didn't name the shop or the indy himself ~

My point is he came to the forum to whine about his issue before he even gave the shop a chance to explain.

I suspect like you...BUT, it could have been pinched at the factory...or a moron pinched it and returned it...all possibilities. I know, I got a brand new high end (doesn't matter which one...) air filter and when I took it out of the box, the air filter was in clear plastic and had been obviously pinched by some machine before coming to me, non functional. It disturbed me that someone along the line had seen that and sent it anyway...wasting my time...I would ask him nicely if he knew how it got damaged that way and then let it go. If you ever bring one in again, inspect it first and air test it, plus let them know you did...so not to waste their time...
