Default Motogadget mini speedometer

I am having trouble getting the speedometer function of my Motogadget mini to work. The tach is working (not sure how accurately though). I am using the OEM speed sensor and have its output wired directly to the motogadget mini. I found one schematic online that shows a 2K resistor wired between the speed sensor power input and output? Also the original speedometer had a speed signal output that led back to the ECM, I'm assuming this was for the turnsignal auto canceling? Is it necessary have a speed signal going back to the ECM, as there is not output from the new Motogadget speedometer? If so,how did you wire this? Anyone with experience wiring one of these speedometers please help.

I don't have the motogadget, but am running an aftermarket speedometer. Yes, you do need to have a sensor signal going to the ECM. In addition to the turn sig self cancel, you will have all sorts of issues with stalling and rough running. If the ECM doesn't know how fast you are traveling, or if you are traveling at all, the fuel delivery will be way off.

I just split the signal wire at the connector behind the splash guard. One to the speedo and one back to the ECM.

Can't help much with the motogadget issues, maybe some others with one will chime in.

Thanks. I had split the speed sensor cable just before the new speedometer and ran it back to the ECM. I rode the bike around and didn't have any problems so, I guess that's OK, just no speed reading?
