If I had a Slim I wouldn't put a 23 or 200 on it either, but every owner has his own vision, that's the fun of it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should has never been more true.

Those firestones I've noticed on a couple new softails are the worst possible tire you could put on your nice new expensive Harley Davidson. I say that cuz I have 3 sets of them on old cobbled together bobbers, not a 103ci HD. I can say from experience they handle like garbage, track poorly, wear abnormally fast & cost a fortune, but yeah, they look the part, right?? I know you people are going for the "old school" (most overused BS term ever) look and you have a ton of unique bolt ons you don't see everyone doing, but , NO.

Most of these new bikes obviously are having had a lot of work done and there are certainly
some cool parts going on many of them but why is everyone completely changing an amazing looking new Slim?

Couldn't they get an older deuce, or night train, hell even a FB to mod into these completely odd "custom" "make it your own" creations?

Sure you'll say, "well it's already blacked out" or " I wanted a new bike not an old one" but seriously, why buy a particularly wonderfully styled motorcycle and then completely throw caution & your wallet to the wind and say, lets make it something it's not?
There's one in last months cycle source magazine that was made into a flat tracker type thing! Hated it. Why, why, why.

The slim looks that way cuz it's styled right. It's not meant to have a 23. It's not meant to have a 200. It's not meant to have 18" carlini's or wtf they're called. It's perfect right outta the box. Sure, put all that on and be praised by all those who haven't the cash, skills, or the ***** to do it themselves. Do it because you want something "a little different", well don't we all?
Truth be told, the slim is the first bike in years where I thought they "got it right", with the hollywood bars, tuck n roll seat, 16" front & rear etc...

Okay, sure, add pipes and an AC, but Firestones? Really? REALLY? Leave that to the hipsters and the custom jap bobber scene. The mods some have chosen works well with old vintage iron, shovels, pans, etc, and the asian harley builders have exploited this to death. That's where all those classic bikes are ending up anyway (such a shame) and I'm not even gonna get into why, that's another rant.

And yep, it's your money, and I'll tell you how you should be spending it!
Not really, but "if it makes you happy...it can't be that bad" Actually, come to think of it, I hate Cheryl Crow too.

There are some really fine builds going on here and last I heard it's still a free country and that's just another 2 cents down the drain.

You are entiled to your opinion but that doesnt make it right nor does it mean anyone has to agree with you lol.

My wife is "styled right" and looks great "right out of the box" - but if some fake ******* made her look better - then maybe I would consider bolting some on

I think I will buy a vivid black slim and change whatever I see fit to change. And then I might just go down and buy a custom shop telecaster and mod the crap out of it. Just sayin.

Damn... what an ugly bike. I'll take it off your hands for like $10k if you want... now that you ruined it.

$11k?

This thread is hilarious...

I think the only conclusion I can come to is these are great arguments to get a second Harley... Or a few more... Then I can ride the style that fits my mood on any given day.

Oh well, everyone needs a dream!

you mean this isn't factory???

I need Dickey to chime in and tell me how the SoCal look does nothing to aid his erections

Nice to see a cat who is actually from East L.A. sportin the SoCal look.

Not that you can't do it in Wisconsin. Just sayin, that's OG.

Anywho, I joke around sometimes. But honestly, when it comes to mods, live and let live. There are better things to do than worry about someone else's bike.
