I have a 2001 Softail Fatboy EFI and the starter has gone bad in it. What's the easiest way to remove it from the bike? Do I have to take the oil lines off and everything? I don't see any other way to get it out? If there is a simpler way please help me out.
Thanks!
It's easy to remove it just the **** that's in the way to get at it.
Mine's a 02 Standard with carb and pretty much would have had to do just as the manual states which would be removing the oil bag, rear exhaust, and much more just to get at it. Fortunally it was not the starter thank God....good luck.
I've seen in here that with the proper socket extensions the starter can be removed without taking the oil tank out. It does have to be loosened for wiggle room though.
