Hey guys, looking to do some work to my deuce, its an 01 efi.
A few of my options are:
1. New wheels, chrome.
2. Chrome Swing arm
3. Chrome inner primary cover (I've tried the kury add on over and it came off).
Question is, any opinions of these options? Are any of the wheel manufactures better than the rest, and is there anything I need to know in buying wheels? Can I get a size bigger in the rear?
The chrome swing arm and chrome inner primary cover I was thinking I'd buy from harley direct. Are they direct bolt on and go? If I'm into the primary I'm thinking maybe its a good time to replace stuff inside?
Let me know thoughts and suggestions for a newbie!

If you are looking at wheels, Harley wheels are getting limited in selection for 21", aftermarkets can be expensive. Been looking for my Deuce as well. Chrome swing arm and inner primary seem like a ton of work/money for little gain. Considered cartridge emulators for the fork, remote adjustable preload (RAP) shocks, cams or 95" kit?
Although it would seem a lot of work, (1 reason I haven't done it), My opinion is the covers for the inner primary and various other pieces look like what they are, covers. So if it were me, I'd go with the chrome inner primary. The chrome outer primary, cam cover, transmission covers, and the oil tank itself are relatively easy to do and dress up the bike nicely. If (when?) I have to do any inner primary work I'll maybe put a chrome one on. I've hemmed and hawed over a chrome swingarm and have decided against it. Harley's wheels from that time frame are getting hard to find, but there are some nice designs IMHO at relatively reasonable $$$ if you can find them. Cruise eBay and Amazon, some dealers have new old stock laying around or have sold them to used parts houses and can be had. Anything from the popular wheel makers is going to be real expensive.
A 2000 Deuce owner over the years did every thing in the book to his including diamond cutting the fins. He chose billet over covers when there was an option. He did S&S cams that were for low and mid range torque.
He had over $20K in work on it. It was in the Ride and Show in Rapid City during Sturgis in 2006 and took 2nd place. Willie G. signed the front fender.
Last fall he traded it for a 110 anniversary Ultra. The dealer gave him $11,500 in trade. I saw it and watched until close to winter then when it didn't sell I offered the dealer $10K for it. Three days later they called and accepted the offer.
It runs and handles like a dream.
The chrome swing arm looks great and I think it's around $700. The guy put the hard bags on that were designed for the Deuce and had the brackets chromed. The 5 spoke front wheel is about $750.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've got already a full dress up kit on it, including everything from each bolt being covered, to outer primary, to stainless lines to oil tank, etc. Currently the bike has aluminum mag wheels, that are a 5 spoke design. They have some chrome on them but aren't fully chrome. I was just looking for a change, and yes I know it will probably be a $3500 change.
I haven't decided fully on wheels yet but was looking for inner primary and swing arm opinions. I don't think they will be that much work, and I'm thinking about 1k-1.5k to do both of them....
The kury inner primary cover I purchased was hideous, I installed it, looked at it for probably 2 minutes, then removed it.
As far as motor goes, its pretty good too. I've got it all from the big bore kit, to cams, to screaming eagle heavy breather, tuner, etc.
I've been looking for a star design front for my 07 for a while now, I want something different than spokes. I had my factory rear chromed and it was the best money I've spent on it as far as chrome so far. Wanna trade wheels?????
