Button popping proud to be a new Harley owner!!! Have a dilemma on my 2004 fatboy. I purchased a Saddleman solo seat and while tightening one of the two seat ***** it snapped off inside the stud/nut this seat **** gets threaded into. This stud/nut is threaded into the frame. Easy enough I took the stud/nut out from the frame with a 3/4" socket. Obviously I need to replace this frame seat stud/nut (or whatever it is called). I've searched forums and Ronnie's microfilm part drawings trying to find this part without any success. Frankly, I don't even know what it is called. There is one of these frame seat stud/nuts on each side of the seat and the two seat ***** (one on each side) get tightened into these parts to secure the seat. Any help determining what this part is called or ideally, a OEM part #? Thanks in advance.

My apologies (for not introducing myself first). Certainly don't want to cause trouble. I posted an introduction in the new members' area so hopefully nobody will get upset.
So my local HD dealer had a new SEAT RETENTION NUT. He also commented that they must really be proud of this piece considering it was $12.00!! Oh well.

Welcome to the world of Harley-Davidson and HDForums.
A seat retention nut at $12 is a nice discount . Get used to it... HD is proud of ALL of their parts.

Dude, did you NOT realize that the HD actually means "Hundred Dollar"?
Stealerships are bad for that. A pack of 10 o-rings for drain plugs from Drag Specialties is $1. Needed one RIGHT NOW - $1 EACH from the dealer.
At least you got your part and you are safely back on the road. Enjoy the bike! The Fatboy is a sweet ride.
Thanks Spydyr but that is the wrong part. The seat retention nut on my 2004 Fatboy has about a 1/2" threaded male end on one side of a hex head nut and a 1/4-20 threaded hole in the other end that accepts the seat ****. I did (by the way) think of checking both J&P as well as Dennis Kirk.
