I had one blowout and one flat. The blowout was much like yours. I was on an interstate in heavy traffic at about 65 mph when I hit a chunk of metal in the road. I believe it was a small section of broken leaf spring. It cut a hole in my rear tire large enough that I could put my hand through the hole after all was said and done. I saw it comming but could not avoid it. The bike I was riding in those days had a very long front end and lots of rake, 10 over and 10+ degrees, and it was a rigid frame bike. As you would expect the front wheel sayed rock-solid steady as the rear of the bike swung like a clock pendlum. I stopped 3 lanes of traffic in Miami, FL at rush hour. I was scared to death but the bike did not go down
The flat was worse. I dam near died.
I had bought a brand new 750 K2 Honda in North Miami, picked it up at lunch time, and left after work to drive it to my Grandparents home. They were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversery that evening. Cell phone hadn't been invented yet and there was no option to miss the festivities. Some damned fool had used a stapler to put a price tag sticker on the front tire. Somewhere at about the 10-miles-on-the-bike mark the staple worked its way to the inner tube and there I was with a flat tire andabout 3 miles from my grandparents house in Davie, FL. It was mid July at 5 in the afternoon. I pushed and ran along side holding up that bike as fast as I could get it to go (ideling in 1st gear as we went down the dirt on the side of the road) each of those miles. Like I said, I dam near died.

I'm not dissing your bike!!! beautiful machine, that's what I was trying to get at other night about skinny front tire's and then all hell broke loss, I would diffently buy new front rim, still your size, but see if you can find a stronger rim that you like, and that suck's how they made you wait for allmost 4 hour's, good way for boy's in the hood jump you in and take your bike or even your life, I'm member of h.o.g too, but I fight authority, so you know how it went when I tryed the meeting's and told how to ride where to ride how fast I could go when I could take a leak, been riding since 12, I have rode in group's many time's, but hell they made me feel like I was in boot camp again, so now h.o.g well be on my case, but any way why so long? where they shopping for cheapest tow? I'm glad for cell phone and bud's with pick-up's
I understand what ur sayin, I am considering on getting a stronger rim. Any suggestions beside a Fat boy rim?lol.

NO just maybe a nice billet rim, not spoked, to me the custom billet wheel's could have saved you flat are horrable crash, hope spoke guy's ,don't take wrong way, since your rim is bent buy same size wheel ,but one that can take more abuse, and I know not cheap! I'ts your money, they have so many style's, it would be hard to pick. GOOD LUCK
