I had this happen to me in Ontario. I plugged it, rode another 2000 or so miles to SLC and rode another 2000 or so miles on the tire before it was time for a new one. No problems.
However, if "given" a second chance, I would first look for the beer store, then plug it, fill itand ride it home.

I got a friend who several years ago was coming home early alonefrom the Memorial Day rally in Red River New Mexico and blew out his rear tire on I-25. A guy stopped with a trailer and they got the motorcycle up on the trailer and the guy took him and his motorcycle on into Las Vegas New Mexico. He found the closest gas station that sold beer and had the guy drop him off there.
He located his motorcycle under a shade tree and started buying single beers from the gas station. He called his girl friend in Amarillo which is about 180 miles away and told her to go by a friends and get his trailer and come get him.
5 hours later he was drunk and sound asleep under the tree when she finally showed up. I still can't believe he called her and she went and picked him up.
I said a buddy with a trailer, but actually it would be my OL and my pickup. I was a couple hundred miles from home once and had a guy stop w/trailer and give me and the bike a hitch home.
In my younger days I would pull out my toolkit with tire irons and hand pump, patch the tube and be back on the road in less than 2 hours(the good ol'days)!
20 people are going tojump inand say"Just plugged it and kept going"
Then 1-2 people are going to pipe in and say "Man, I can't believe you'd take your life in your hands by plugging a Motorcycle tire."
Then one guy is going to say "I knew a guy that died doing that".
Then about 30 more people are going to say "Just plug it and keep going...jeez man"
Then someone willjump in andask "Hey whats the best Oil to use in my 07 SG?"
