So i got a 05 Night Train with the stock badlander seat and anyone that has ever tried one knows they are for looks only, no comfort. And im going to be putting mini apes very soon. iv narrowed it down to 3 seats i like the looks of but dont know how the comfort level is. Im thinking either the Harley Rallyrunner, Sidekick or the C&C Lopro 2up. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
After owning a few seats I discovered its best to get a seat for the purpose its intended. In other words, if you want a 2up seat, get one that is comfortable for long 2up rides. If you want a nice looking low profile seat, get a 1up. In other words, I have 2 seats that I really like. CC solo for 1up that can be ridden for a couple hundred miles and an HD Sundowner that can be ridden longer then the solo and is a lot more comfortable for the passenger and me.
I feel your pain......litterally. I have an 09' NT. I tried the rallyrunner, little more comfortable, but not great. Then tried an airhawk, definatly a difference, but obviously doesn't look the best. then I tried a fatboy seat, its by far the best I've used. Much wider saddle and doesn't look bad on the NT. All you have to do is drill two holes for the seat mount stud kit and your set.
I had an HD Brawler seat for solo riding on my Fatboy. Total POS. Sold it on flea-bay and got a C&C solo. Way mo better! I've also kept the stock Fatty seat for longer rides. Very easy to swap out when needed.
I have gone thru 5 seats on mine and for all riding I find a Lepara barebones works for me, the badlander is the second best and the brawler is ok and the C&C with gel hurts my back. It is all about your butt and how you sit in the seat. A seat that works for one person may not for another. Also the bars do change the way you sit in a seat.
thanks guys, i cant afford 2 different seats yet. might be looking into the sundowner than.
The dealers let you try out and ride the Sundowner for free. A lot of decent seats come up used on this forum, ebay and craigslist. Scored the Sundown for $100 locally on craigslist and the cc solo for $90 on eBay. The CC solo was not advertised as a CC Solo seat, only as a solo, so on one else bid on it. I noticed the CC label in one of the pics.
I went with the Saddleman Explorer, gel type seat. I wanted a Mustang seat but did not like the looks of the passenger pillion, because it seemed like it would dwarf the looks of my fat fender and rear tire. But, that is just my perspective as Mustang makes good seats to.
