Default BCT QQ baffles Question

Anyone ever install these in the Big Radius Pipes ? I ordered a set last night and there is mixed know how on the net and on here on how they were installed ... Some say you can pop out the stock baffles and use the existing hole and I have also read that they need to be pushed up inside 6 inches or so and drill a new hole ? I just put these pipes on and hate to remove them just to drill another hole further up the pipe ?

i'm absolutely positive when i did it a couple of years ago that the directions included with the QQ baffles said to put them up the pipes a certain number of inches. i'm the kind of guy who always follows the directions on that sort of thing and i'm also the kind of guy who is lazy and sure as hell wouldn't have drilled anything unless it was recommended, lol.

Also found a quote from a guy who did it in 2010: "I put a set of big radius on my fatbob a month ago. What I did was take out the original baffles and installed a set of QQ big city baffles as far as I could into the exhaust pipes up against the header pipes. Then I took the V&H baffles and cut off enough so I could stack them against the QQs as per advice from V&H. They sound good. I think I lost a little torque with this settup. I had Rush slipons 1.75s, but a quick call to Jamie at Fuelmoto and he emailed me a new map for my PC-v and all is good. No question the sound is a two pipes tone versus the stock header and slipons. Mike"

Yup 6" is the number and with V&H it's no small task to take everything apart, install the baffles and then put it all back together . . . ask me how I know . . . but that's the deal . . . and they do work well when installed that way. I drilled a couple of holes in the chrome pipes on the inside betwen the pipes and the bike itself, out of the line of sight (measure two or three times before you drill) to line up with the bolts that hold the QQ Baffles in place. That way you can remove and replace the baffles without taking the exhaust system apart.

I've used BCT baffles in my past 5 exhaust systems. Yes, there is a "Sweet" spot which is roughly 6 inches from the tip of the exhaust however the placement of the baffles doesn't have to be exact. I've ran them anywhere from 3 to 8 inches from the end of the exhaust. Recommend you first install them using the existing holes and perform a test prior to drilling.
